Saturday 16th July, First week back, 3pm at Ray Blank Park (off Maidstone Rd)

Come along and spend the afternoon launching water rockets, and maybe
win some prizes :) Prizes will be awarded arbitrarily at the
non-partial discretion of the judges ;)

We hope to have a running air compressor with us, but in the event
that we can't find some lovely neighbours to the park who are willing
to let us run a power cable make sure your rockets can be launched
with bike pumps (the two handle ones get some really good lift :) )

Here are some links to water rocket construction and I believe the
third one demonstrates the difference between cheap and more expensive
bike pumps
(Note: none of these videos use an air compressor- and several still
use parachutes :P)

This is the most comprehensive video about splicing plastic bottles to
make a really strong pressure seal, I'm sure some of the steps can be
by-passed to make a similarly strong seal but well worth a watch if
your keen :)

Sorry this one is not in English, but has a good step by step build section;

This one is quite long (8min) as he show the differences between the
black powder motors, hydrogen and then goes through some different
water rockets pumps;

There are literally hundreds of these videos on youtube!
So good luck on your build :D
